Sunset Valley BACC: Dead??
So, I went into the Atkins family today to see that not only did they have another kid, but Ted and Laura were apparently DIVORCED. So, unless I can figure out how to keep that from happening again, I think I'll be going back to the sims 2. It's a lot simpler. But I really do like the sims 3....UGH!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have Awesomemod? You can adjust it's settings so that you get Sims 2 style aging and stop story progression actions OR if you want the town to age you can make certain families sacred so that they won't age and the game will ask you to allow major story progression events. Or you could do all of that at the same time.

I'm not sure if Master Controller has this functionality but AM definitely does.

It's hard to play a BACC in a vanilla TS3 because families you are not controlling do get on with their lives without your input. AM makes it possible to play it a bit more Sims 2 style by allowing you to control the aging rate or making families "sacred" so they don't do stuff you don't want to, etc. I know it's a PITA to get a new version of it every couple of weeks but if it allows you to do what you want to do in this particular town, you could play the BACC with AM in and take it out when playing a regular family/legacy.

I used Twallan's story progression becuase I couldn't find Awesomemod. At least, not a version that worked on my computer without causing game issues.
